It's been awile since posting here on vox. Not by intent. I've just been pretty busy with everything in life: school, job hunting, and what not.
I do think it's still odd that Six Apart while making LJ and Vox compatible seem to try and keep them separate. I've heard the reasoning being that they intended vox for older bloggers. But then I've also heard the opposite. So who knows. I do tend to think that the other reason given (easier sharing of content such as music, videos, and photos) is probably the most likely.
I can't believe I spent most of the day working on computers. I was mainly updating programs, patching OS's (Window, obviously) and Browsers (IE, of course) but also got dragged into working on my brother's computer as well: cleaning up the hard drive, removing viruses, mal-ware, installing and configuring his software firewall and other fun internet related problems. Also helped him narrow his choices on new hard drives, an mp3 player (he's a bit anti-iPod, not that I blame him), and a flat screen monitor for his available budget. Still, it was kind of fun, in a computer geek kind of way.
I've decided that when I've enough money saved up to buy a new computer I'll either convert my old desktop to a Linux box or I'll simply have the new computer be a Linux box in the first place. I thought about a Mac, which are very nice computers but most of the programs I use in engineering don't have Mac support or there are no programs of equivalency for a Mac. Besides, I'm also more familiar and comfortable with Linux. I'll just have to decide which Linux version I'll use.
The Glass Cat Pendant is a more recent piece of art that came about while practicing some different effects with The Gimp program.
The pendant part came out pretty well, IMO, but not so much with the cat. The cat likely would have come out better if the picture was of a cat with less color variation. All in all I like how this one came out.
Okay. I've obviously been watching the Fox News Channel too much lately. Why? I don't know. Aside from Shepard Smith I depise FNC. Then again I despise most news channels for their bias. Case in point: CNN being caught red-handed using doctored and staged photos from the Israel-Hizbollah-Lebanon conflict.
On to the Vox thoughts:
So far I like Vox quite a bit. It took a little getting used to some of the layout but its pretty simple to use. About the only thing that maybe needs a little work is search-ability, but not overly so. Loading pics is pretty easy. I haven't tried the videos or books as yet. I'll try those sometime, probably after I regain access to high speed access.
I don't really need another blog but as it seems many I know are migrating over here I'd follow suit. I'm not really sure what I'll do with this vox account yet but it looks like it'll be interesting. It certainly looks easier to add photos, vids, and whatnot to blogs here.
Off to explore.
